AS THIS MOMENT SLIPS AWAY*

This Vancouver-based series explores the dynamic interplay between our perceptions and the urban environments we inhabit, considering how these spaces influence our emotional and psychological states. I am particularly interested in how our personal, psychological, and cultural biases act as lenses that distort these perceptions, creating subjective—sometimes dreamlike, often transient—interpretations that profoundly affect our sense of self and well-being. This exploration into the intricate and reciprocal relationship between individuals and urban spaces is crucial for understanding the deep influence that our surroundings exert on our internal worlds, and vice versa. This work further investigates how this interaction shapes and is shaped by our collective and individual experiences, underscoring the significant emotional impact of urban living.

In As This Moment Slips Away, I experiment with reflections, filtered views, transparency, layers, and color, using a combination of digital and analog techniques. Black and white photographic images are digitally layered with images of ink paintings on paper. These paintings enhance depth, complexity, mood, and atmosphere through the use of color, texture, light, and shadow. The series serves as a testament to the ephemeral moments of urban life, inviting viewers to reflect on how quickly such moments slip away, yet leave lasting impressions on us.

The final images are printed with pigment ink on archival paper, ensuring that each piece not only captures but also preserves the nuanced interplays that define this series.
